16 TENSES

 

 

  1. Simple Present Tense

 

Rumusnya  :

- ( + )               : S + V1 (s/es)

- ( – )                : S + DO/DOES + NOT + V1

- ( ? )               : DO/DOES + S + V1

 

Penggunaan :

  1. Simple Present Tense is used to declare the event or events, activities, events and so on that occur at this time.
  2. Present Tense is also used to express a fact, or something that happens over and over our times.

 

Example :

-         I will go home when  it stop rain

-         A week is seven days

 

2. Present Continuous Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Tobe + (am,is,are) + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Tobe + Not + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( Tobe + S + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

 

Penggunaan : Used to express actions in progress or there is or is not in progress at the present time

Example :

( + )           : I am writing a letter now

( – )                        : We aren’t talking about the problem but we are doing our job respectly

( ? )            : Are you inspecting single part of CN 235 ?

 

3. Simple Past Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Verb 2 + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Did + Not + Verb 1 + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( Did + S + Verb 1 + Object )

 

Penggunaan : To declare the events that have “Past”. Past have not been here for long very well, just been passed, has passed. That’s the emphasis.

 

Example :

( + )           : I ate rice because I felt hungry

( – )                        : Didn’t you belive to lord ?

( ? )            : Did you go school yesterday ?

 

4. Past Continuous Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Were/Was + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Was/ Were + Not + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( Was/Were + S + Verb 1 + Ing Form + ……. )

 

Penggunaan : to express an ongoing event in the past, while other events occur.

 

Example :

( + )           : He was finishing that job when invited me to the party

( – )                        : We weren’t sleeping when you leaving us at the room.

( ? )            : Were you mastering thr lesson when we studied together ?

 

5. Present Future Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + To Be ( is,am,are ) + Going to + Verb 1 + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + To Be + Not + Going to + Verb 1 + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( To Be + S +Going to + Verb 1 + Object )

 

Penggunaan : To express an event / action that happens or not will happen in the future.

 

Example :

( + )           : I am going to see my grandfather next Sunday.

( – )                        : She isn’t going to work next Sunday.

( ? )            : Are you going to go Japan next year.

 

6. Past Future Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Should/Would + Verb 1/Be + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Should/Would + Not + Verb 1/Be + Object )

- ( ? )         : (Should/Would + S + Verb 1/Be + Object )

 

Penggunaan : Stating that the act will be done in the past

 

Example :

( + )           : He would prepare the rice on the table before nine o’clock

( – )                        : We shouldn’t control the mobil three weeks

( ? )            : Would you intend to continue your study to university the yer before ?

 

7. Present Perfect Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Has/Have + Verb 3/Been + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Has/Have + Not + Verb 3/Been + Object )

- ( ? )         : (Has/Have + Verb 3/Been + Object )

 

Penggunaan : To reveal an event that happened or not happened and is completed at the present time

 

Example :

( + )           : I have eaten when you come in

( – )                        : It hasn’t been get up late this week

( ? )            : Have you written a letter since last night ?

 

8. Present Perfect Continous Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Have/Has + Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Have/Has + Not + Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( Have/Has + Not + S +  Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

 

Penggunaan : To reveal an event that has occurred in the past continues until the present moment

 

Example :

( + )           : I have been staying in Bandung abiut/approxsimately 5 year

( – )            : She hasn’t been understanding since she get sick for three month until now.

( ? )            : Hasn’t been predicting the weather for two days ?

 

9. Past Perfect Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Had + Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Had + Not + Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( Had + Not + S +  Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

 

Penggunaan : To express an event or events taking place in the past, until terminated   in the past as well, or vice versa where not happen that way at that time.

Example :

( + )           : He had been finishing his job for five o’clock

( – )                        : They hadn’t coming out for ten minutes

( ? )            : Hadn’t she hunting those birds for six hours ?

 

10. Future Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Shall/Will + Be + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Shall/Will + Not + Be + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( ? )         : (Shall/Will + Not +  Be + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

 

Penggunaan : for an event / events that will be taking place or that will not be going in the future.

 

Example :

( + )           : He will be regonising your argument when you speak with him at seven o’clock tomorrow

( – )                        : I shall not be arriving here at this time next week

( ? )            : Wouldn’t she be going with her darling the some time next night ?

 

11. Past Future Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Should/Would + Be + Ing Form + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Should/Would + Not + Be + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

.

Penggunaan : to reveal the events / actions that will be going or not going is going on in the past

 

Example :

( + )           : He Would be contempting on august last year

( – )                        : Shouldn’t we be introducing those methods for him at afternoon last Sunday ?

 

12. Past Future Perfect Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Should/would + Have + Verb 3/Been + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Would/Should + Not + Have + Verb 3/Been + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( Would/Should + S + Have + Verb 3/Been + Object )

 

Penggunaan : stating that the act will be done in the past

 

 

 

Example :

( + )           : I should have prepared the new argument if he had arrived

( – )                        : We wouldn’t have there at five if hadn’t gone.

( ? )            : Would you hane relaid the traveling if they called you ?

 

13. Future Perfect Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Shall/Will + Have + Verb 2/Be + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Shall/Will + Not + Have + Verb Verb 2/Be + Object )

- ( ? )         : (Shall/Will + S + Have + Verb Verb 2/Be + Object )

 

Penggunaan : Stating that the act had begun in the past and soon will be completed in time to come.

 

Example :

( + )           : I shall lent your car by the end of this month

( – )                        : We shalln’t have finished this job by the end of this week

( ? )            : shall we have ate seven o’clock by night ?

 

14. Future Perfect Continous Tense

 

Rumusnya :

(S + Shall/Will + Have + Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

 

Penggunaan : Such as Future Perfect, but the act is likely to continue in the future.

 

Example : Shalln’t we have been arrangingthe meeting by the end of this month ?

 

15. Past Future Continous Tense

 

Rumusnya :

- ( + )         : ( S + Should/Would + Have + Been + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( – )          : ( S + Should/Would + Not + Verb 1 + Ing Form + Object )

- ( ? )         : ( Would/Should + S + Have + Been + Verb 1 +Ing Form + Object )

 

Penggunaan : Stating that will act being done in the past

 

Example :

( + )           : I should have been trying for two year by last september

( – )                        : He wouldn’t have been forgetting you for tem years by last

( ? )            : Should we have been buying the dress for one hours last week ?

 

 

 

 

16. Past Perfect Continous

 

Rumusnya : ( S + had + been + Present Participle )

 

Penggunaan : Demonstrate ongoing actions in the past.

 

Example : When I finished my dinner, he had been playing guitar.
